Luton Town FC Opt For a Step-Change in Financial Systems as Business Grows

Another fantastic signing for football club favourites Eureka Solutions as they get set to provide robust business systems to support Luton Town Football Club’s growth ambitions.

“Once the Eureka Solutions team demonstrated NetSuite to us it was clear that it would fundamentally improve the way the finance function of our business operates – we’ll save man hours day to day and, for me personally, management reporting will flow smoothly.”

As Luton Town FC’s success on the pitch continues to gather momentum with back-to-back promotions, the structure of Club as a business and focal point in the local area is gathering momentum too.

With a strategy that includes a new stadium, for which plans have now been approved, the complexity of the business – which already incorporates supporter and matchday activity, hospitality, sponsorship and more – is only going to increase. For this to be managed successfully, full visibility of the information required to make timely decisions is going to be essential, and a systems review was triggered this summer.

All growing businesses face similar challenges as they come to realise their systems can’t cope and are actually hindering business development. Thomas Schofield, Financial Controller at Luton Town FC explains,

“We are looking to substantially grow Luton Town FC as a sustainable business. Our existing systems are simply not giving us the information we need for effective management reporting, added to which we have too much that is paper based and involves duplication of effort. If we are to implement our growth plans, we need a step-change to future-proof our systems and achieve complete visibility of our financials.”

After looking at some options and partners that just didn’t provide the required level flexibility or confidence, the Luton Town Board approached Eureka Solutions after a recommendation from peers at Derby County FC. Eureka Solutions implemented NetSuite ERP for Derby County FC in late 2016 and since then they have seen 100% improvement of visibility and traceability, and a vast reduction in manual effort.

NetSuite is the UK’s most widely deployed cloud-based ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system, and for good reason. For multifaceted businesses like Luton Town, with multiple cost centres, it delivers transformational results for processes, efficiencies, analysis and reporting. Importantly it’s also fully scalable.

Thomas Schofield continues,

“Once the Eureka Solutions team demonstrated NetSuite to us it was clear that it would fundamentally improve the way the finance function of our business operates – we’ll save man hours day to day and, for me personally, management reporting will flow smoothly. It’s more than just an accounting system, and it brings so much potential for the future too.”

Financial systems are the backbone of a business and changing them can be daunting, so the right partner is key. Eureka Solutions, as one of the UK’s leading NetSuite partners, and with such an impressive track record, provided confidence and clarity to Thomas and his team from the outset, “Eureka Solutions have been helpful in illustrating clearly how we can achieve what we want to achieve in NetSuite without over-complicating things. They have fully understood our requirements.”

Eureka Solutions Sales Director, Aileen Primrose, adds

“Finance leaders personally recommending our team and systems to each other in this way is the biggest compliment we can receive, and it’s happening more and more. We pride ourselves on our founding principles of technical expertise and customer service, and we are just delighted to have another forward-thinking customer like Luton Town on board.”
