Electronic Temperature Instruments Ltd. (ETI) is a UK-based, award-winning manufacturer with a global reach in precision temperature measurement solutions. Founded in 1983, ETI has become the go-to manufacturer and an industry-trusted name in the design and production of high-quality instruments used across a wide range of sectors. Its extensive product range includes thermometers, temperature probes, and data loggers, as well as pH meters, moisture meters, and non-contact infrared thermometers. ETI’s products support critical applications in food production, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, facilities management, and industrial manufacturing, where accuracy, reliability, and compliance are essential. With a commitment to excellence, ETI continues to set the standard in temperature measurement technology.
WHAT WERE ETI’S CHALLENGES?
ETI had reached the limits of its previous system, Sage. Manual processes, disconnected platforms, and a lack of integration across departments were beginning to hinder the company’s growth and operational flexibility.
To stay ahead of a rapidly evolving market and meet the demands of its growing international sales, ETI needed a unified system that could streamline processes, improve efficiency, and support sustainable growth.
With operations across four locations and business processes that spanned B2B distribution and B2C ecommerce fulfilment, ETI required more than just an accounting solution. The company needed a powerful, cloud-based ERP to serve as the backbone of its operations—and found exactly that in NetSuite.
With both B2B and B2C customers demanding fast, transparent service, including next-day shipping and real-time order tracking, ETI’s legacy system was no longer able to support the digital experience the company envisioned. Internal operations were also becoming strained, with inefficiencies in stock management, order processing, and communication across departments.
SELECTING A SOLUTION
Recognising the need for transformation, ETI evaluated several ERP options, including Microsoft Dynamics and Salesforce. Ultimately, NetSuite stood out for its rich functionality, scalability, and strategic alignment with ETI’s largest customer, who already used the platform.
As Jason Webb, Managing Director at ETI, explains:
“To truly accelerate our growth, we needed a system that could do more for us—one that scales smarter, rather than simply adding more team members. In today’s economic climate, it’s increasingly costly to recruit, train, and retain staff. Investing in NetSuite enables us to grow sustainably.”
“One of our key clients played a pivotal role in influencing our decision. It was both their recommendation and the convenience of having the same ERP that helped our decision. Our client explained their workflows and integrations. That really sold us on the system and the dream of working more efficiently.”
To support the implementation, ETI partnered with Eureka Solutions, one of the UK’s leading NetSuite partners. The go-live date was set for March 1, 2020, just days before the first national COVID-19 lockdown.
THE RESULTS
Transition to the Cloud
The timing couldn’t have been more critical. As lockdowns disrupted businesses worldwide, ETI had just gone live with NetSuite, a cloud-based platform, that enabled secure remote access, streamlined processes, and real-time visibility.
“That first year really gave us an insight into how powerful the system was. We could furlough people, reassign tasks, and still keep everything visible in the cloud. This wouldn’t have been possible on our previous system.”
NetSuite unified our data into a single, reliable platform. With over 75 users spanning 12 departments, the platform now manages everything from financials and manufacturing to multi-location stock transfers and interdepartmental workflows.
“NetSuite has become the backbone of our operations. It keeps everything running smoothly, no matter the challenge.”
Integrations that Unlocked Growth:
Since go-live, ETI has integrated its PrestaShop ecommerce platform and shipping systems with NetSuite using Besyncly, Eureka Solutions’ in-house integration platform. Previously, orders had to be printed from one system and manually re-entered into another—a time-consuming, error-prone process.
“The integration was a light bulb moment. We’ve saved so much time that the team could be redeployed on more meaningful tasks, which also helps with job satisfaction.”
For the B2C business, these integrations have been transformational, enabling real-time order tracking and efficient fulfilment. ETI now delivers a seamless customer experience while handling growing volumes without increasing headcount.
“Without both NetSuite and Besyncly, I imagine we’d need 15 more staff to handle all our processes. That’s more than one person per department.”
Alignment with global partners
NetSuite has also helped ETI build a stronger relationship with its U.S. partner. With both companies operating on the same ERP, cross-border collaboration has become significantly more efficient.
“They can now place orders directly into our system, making ordering and invoicing a seamless process. When we transfer data between the two companies, it’s helpful that it’s in the same format.”
Impact across the business
NetSuite’s impact goes far beyond finance, playing a vital role in managing ETI’s complex thermometer manufacturing processes. With multiple stock locations and intricate workflows, the system ensures that all operations—from production to stock transfers—are managed efficiently and accurately.
All types of transactions, whether financial or operational, flow through NetSuite. The system has become a central hub, helping facilitate communication and coordination across 12 departments.
In addition, ETI relies on the platform to manage complex inventory movements between subcontractors, holding locations, and manufacturing sites. Every transaction, financial or otherwise, is recorded, tracked, and visible across departments.
“We communicate without communicating. Everything from new product codes to credit holds are in the system. You don’t need to send an email or arrange a meeting. Everyone has the information they need.”
With workflows now centralised in NetSuite, processes are more consistent and efficient. Stock movements, product specifications, and interdepartmental updates are all tracked in one place, eliminating data silos and ensuring accuracy.
“NetSuite’s integration into our manufacturing operations has been invaluable. It’s like having one central hub for everything, and that drives operational efficiency.”
