Graduate Programme
NetSuite Technical Lead
BA Aeronautical Engineering, now partly CIMA qualified
University of Glasgow
I graduated from University of Glasgow with a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering. In my final year I did an optional subject of Management Accounting and after university I joined the finance department of Linn Products, a Hi-Fi manufacturer. I was there for seven years and while there passed many of my CIMA exams.
I wanted to work at Eureka Solutions to be a part of a small, but ambitious company, where I could play an important part rather than just being a number in a larger organisation.
When I started in Eureka Solutions, I was a Product Specialist, in which I conducted training sessions and on-site support for customers. I then became a Senior Product Specialist where my tasks included project scoping and system design, project management, amongst many other things.
My current role involves overseeing the technical aspects of the NetSuite division from Pre-Sales, Implementation, Development and Support to ensure customers receive the best solutions to their requirements. This could be getting involved in meetings with prospective customers, scoping new projects with the implementation team, working with the development team to come up with development solutions to requirements, or helping the Support Team resolve complex cases. To do this, I need to be up to date on the latest NetSuite features and releases as well as having knowledge of 3rd party solutions and scripting possibilities.
Every day is different. We have a wide variety of customers that have different requirements and challenges to overcome, for example one day you may be working with an airline and the next with a global software company. You are constantly learning in this job, whether that be through courses or self-learning. There are always opportunities to specialise products or areas. Eureka Solutions is an employer that is good at playing to people’s strengths.
