Eureka Solutions marks National Careers Week with virtual visit to local high school

Eureka Solutions is working closely with a local high school to share alternative career paths into the industry as National Careers Week gets underway this week.

Daily classes and workshops will be virtually offered to teenagers at Lesmahagow High School in South Lanarkshire by representatives from Eureka Solutions.

HR and Learning and Development Manager, Stephanie Kelly, will be leading the workshops to talk to pupils about her journey and the variety of roles available in the industry, while being on hand to answer questions and offer advice.

Stephanie said: “To raise awareness about careers in the tech industry with Scottish pupils is extremely important. It’s not a typical career route to take up when leaving high school, but it can be rewarding one.

“Scotland has a budding tech scene and there is a plethora of options across different roles in the industry. It been great to have the opportunity to highlight this to our next generation of tech experts and guide those who may be unsure of what career path they want to go down at this stage.”

As well as raising awareness about the opportunities for young people in Scotland’s tech scene, Stephanie will also be discussing Eureka Solutions upcoming graduate apprenticeships.

In the coming weeks, Eureka Solutions is to launch graduate apprenticeships for school and college leavers looking to get hands on industry experience, whilst achieving a university degree qualification and earning a salary at the same time.

With more than 500 pupils at Lesmahagow High School, Stephanie discussed the tech opportunities with pupils ranging from second to fifth year.

Marc Campbell, Faculty Head Technologies & Digital Literacy at Lesmahagow High School, said: “Developing the skills of our pupils to prepare them for learning, life and work is a core part of our daily work. We are delighted and very excited to have secured this new partnership between Eureka Solutions and Lesmahagow High School.

“Through collaboration with Eureka Solutions and utilising their expertise, the Faculty of Technologies and Digital Literacy will be able to offer practical workshops for young people. The workshops will enrich the learning experience for our young people, allowing them to apply their subject and curricular knowledge in an exciting and practical way, in the context of a real-life workplace.

“This will enable young people to see the relevance of their curricular skills, taking their learning beyond the classroom. It is also the perfect opportunity for young people to identify various career pathways in terms of further education or employment that they could choose to follow in the future.

“This partnership with Eureka Solutions will help our learners to build their skills for learning, life and work.”
